Iranian Cinema Hosts 230,000 Viewers / “Old Boy” Takes 50% Share of Box Office

According to cinemadrame News Agency, citing the Cinema Shahr Institute, over the past Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and based on statistics compiled from 256 cinema complexes and multiplexes and 717 screens nationwide, more than 230,000 viewers watched the films currently on screen. In total, the Iranian cinema box office experienced sales of approximately 23.5 billion Tomans.

During this period, the film “Old Boy” (Pirpesar) attracted 114,715 viewers and generated sales of approximately 12.2 billion Tomans, accounting for nearly 50% of the total audience. Additionally, two films, “Saddam” with 55,716 viewers and “Salam Alaykom Hajj Aqa” with 16,459 viewers, ranked second and third, respectively.

Furthermore, Kourosh Cinemas with 16,915 viewers, Iran Mall with 10,651, Azadi with 7,870, and Honar Shahr Aftab Shiraz with 7,145 viewers were introduced as the most popular multiplexes nationwide, respectively.

The comedy film “The Man with Glasses” (Mard Einaki), directed by Karim Amini and produced by Ebrahim Amarian, will also be added to the screening cycle from July 15th (25th of Tir). With the release of this comedy film, a significant increase in audience numbers is expected during the summer of 1404 (2025).
